ACT Training Excellence Awards 2008 - ACT Training Initiative - Bayley & Associates (Finalist)
Bayley & Associates submitted one of its recent projects for award consideration. This project was selected as a finalist by the ACT Government using the following criteria:
• Excellence and Innovation
• Client Focus
• Impact of the Training Initiative
• Sustainability of the Initiative
The Project
ACT Procurement Solutions - Customisation and delivery of Government Procurement Qualifications (Competency Based Training) at Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels.
The Challenge
How to deliver AQF qualifications that reflect the client’s work place, with a design that suits busy people but does not compromise learning.
The Process
Based on participant feedback, the ACT Government approached Bayley and Associates to deliver a program for the new work team – specifically tailored to their work environment - without lots of after hours ‘homework’ and to encourage participants to attain a full AQF qualification.
After extensive client consultation, many realistic and practical workplace simulations were incorporated into the materials that met all three needs. By taking an holistic view of competency requirements, the program design allowed participants to simultaneously meet the requirements for most of the qualification through the completion of the ‘Procurement’ units. Any remaining competency requirements were covered by a two day assessment workshop or flexible learning options.
The Result
This large-scale project delivered tailored programs to suit the expressed training needs of the client, and was so successful that further deliveries have been undertaken.
The project demonstrated Bayley’s ability to provide:
• extensively tailored training to suit client needs and meet AQF requirements, and
• flexible delivery arrangements to suit busy people and fit in with work pressures.
